I am hungry... I need a new phone.

I was walking along the streets of Ortigas Center when I suddenly passed by this contruction worker. The construction worker looked like he just had his lunch break. He was covered with dust from the cement and looked like he had been working the whole day. I see him as a typical poverty stricken Filipino who is striving to keep his family alive by working excessively and not minding his health. By the look of his face, he lloked like a good person with an overwhelming heart for his family.

But what caught my attention is his cellphone. He was holding the type of phone that looked like the ones that celebrities have. I don't know the unit but it surely looked expensive. It's an N-series! The ones that have a camera at the back and front and megapixels not below 4.

I was thinking, how can someone as poor as that person afford a phone like that. I, for one came from a not poor and not rich family but we can surely afford a vacation every year.

It's awkward to look at a poor construction worker whom I think lives in one of the slums of Manila and having a super efffin expensive phone.

That is the problem of the people today as evidenced in the construction worker. Their families are going hungry yet they still afford to buy a cellphone that levels the one that rich people have.

I may be generalizing too much but if you live here in the Philippines or know the situation of our country in terms of poverty, you know what I am talking about.

I won't be surprised if I see a jeepney driver or a trycicle driver having an iPhone. :D
